Rock Star

I had to break my norm on this one. No ribbons, buttons, or flowers. I wanted it to ROCK!!!

A Series of Unfortunate Events

  • We've had coughs, colds, fevers, congestion, you name it.
  • Stomach bug that WOULD NOT QUIT! Ca threw up once a day for 5 days. He's low on the scales as it is. I'm sure he lost weight.
  • Ca was nursing a few weeks ago, and he bit down REALLY hard. Left a bad mark. I was in serious pain every time he nursed for 2 weeks.
  • Did you read "HOT!" blog? Insurance will cover our carpet, but to meet the deductible, it's not worth it. So we will be paying for it ourselves.
  • Ca decided to not take his usual 2nd nap, yesterday. Instead, he cried for 2 HOURS! I kept trying to get him back to sleep and every time I put him down, he'd wake up and cry another . . .however long I could stand it. Today, again, it took him a long time to fall asleep on 2nd nap, but this time, he actually slept.
  • I went to http://www.familywatchdog.us/ and found out there is a child sex offender in our neighborhood. Don't go. Our town is crawling with them. It'll freak you out.
  • Ca has separation anxiety BAD. If I even think about leaving the room, he cries. He wants me to be right by him, constantly. I think if he could, he'd have himself surgically attached to my hip.
  • Ca has started a 5:30am feeding, now. He's so old enough to be able to sleep through the night. If I let him cry, I'm scared it'll wake Z. If I nurse him, he's happy and then will go back to sleep on his own and let me sleep longer. This all started with him being sick and me having pity on the poor guy for throwing up so much. Now, I'm in a pickle.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a good note:

  • We are pretty much over all the sicknesses. A little congestion is lingering, but that's all.
  • I get new living room carpet. Maybe I'll "accidentally" burn a few other things.
  • Naps - Maybe he's ready for 1 nap a day. Oh, that'd be nice if the boys took a nap at the same time every day. What if it was 2 hours everyday?? Our house would be CLEAN!! Oh, who am I kidding? My scrapbooks would be FULL!
  • The criminal website - well, it is good info if you can handle the information. I had gotten a thing in the mail a few years ago about a child sex offender living 2 doors down. Guess he moved. That's good to know.
  • At least my baby loves me. There might be a day when I'll try to hug him and he'll say, "Ah, mom!" He's been a little better since getting over various illnesses.
  • 5:30am feedings, then back to sleep is borderline better than 6am feedings and staying awake.
  • Started doing yard work, today. I'm so lost when it comes to yard work, but dang it, I'm trying.
  • Speaking of LOST, oooooooohhh, did you see it Thursday? Man, I was SHOCKED!
  • I think it's funny when I'm bathing my boys and they giggle when I wash a certain area.

Better go hang out with hunny. Nighty night.

I Finally Started Scrappin' Again

After making that album for MIL for Christmas, Christmas cards, and then with my computer being down, I took a scrappin' break. Well, break's over. There's too many pictures to catch up on, and I'm WAY too slow. This is one I just finished (pictures are old). I still have a lot of pictures to do from 2007 and some from before that, but I'm not in any hurry.

HOT!

Monday night, Z got sick with some kind of stomach bug. This was on top of the cold we already have. In the middle of the night, I changed his sheets, give him a bath, new pj's, back the bed, and within 1 minute, he got sick again. Nice. Today, I started feeling queezy, too. In the midst of feeling sick, I was adding a big piece of firewood to our fire and sparks flew everywhere. In a crazed panic, I was trying to get the hot coals back in the fireplace and the sparks out. Ca was crying, but let's face it, he cries pretty often if I am not holding him. He wasn't even close to the fireplace, so I wasn't worried about him getting hurt. After I got most of the coals back in the fireplace, I turned around to check on him. He was on his hands and knees and right beside his little hand was a huge hot coal that had flown out. He wasn't hurt very badly. He probably touched it for a split second. He's got a small blister on the palm of his hand/finger.

Here is the area by our fireplace that I was trying to clean up, first. Those are burned spots. Not just ash.

This is where Ca was. See that big burnt spot? The hot coal by his hand burnt that hole in the carpet. Our carpet is ruined. Mom was hopeful that our insurance will cover this. I hope she's right. Thankfully, Ca's ok. Thankfully, Z stood in the same place and did not MOVE while all this was happening. It's scarey when harmful objects are in reach of BOTH of your kids and neither know better than to touch it. After all was settled, I was explaining to Z about it being hot. I was showing him what fire can do. I went to make dinner for the two of them and Z went to play on the "Word Whammer" on the fridge. It 3 random letters on it, but then Z spelled "hot" on it. We had talked about the word "hot" a week or so ago. It was the first time, he actually looked like he understood what the purpose of letters were. He remembered how to spell it. Even brought it to me to show me. Said, "hot". Genious, I tell you.

So, it's not over. Ca nor Z would not eat dinner. Not that weird for Z, but strange for Ca. I figured he was just traumatized, but then a little later, he threw up. Guess he has the bug. What a night! Hopefully, he won't keep getting sick all night.

Big Boy

Z's learned how to ride a tricycle. We went on a walk this evening with Z on his tricycle and Ca in the stroller. He has a hard time steering, but he knows how to pedal. Or maybe he LIKES riding it in the middle of the street. Fun fun!

Let's Do It Again!

Thank you, girls, for coming to my card making party. It was so nice to have some girl talk. Oh, and the card making was fun, too. I would like to iniciate a once a month girls night out. Who wants to host the next one? If each one of us hosted a party just once/twice a year, we could do one every month. The hostess could do whatever kind of party they wanted: scrapbooking, card making, recipe swap, game night, girly movie, whatever. Just a thought.

Eli Stone

I haven't actually watched this show, but everytime I see the commericals, I think, "Who is that guy?" I looked him up. Dade, the leading man, from "Hackers." Remember that movie?

Thank God for a New Day

I was never more happy to see the sun go down than I was on Tuesday. It was a rough day. Baby Ca was so sick. From 10:30am - 2:30pm, he would nap, wake up, cry, cry, cry, and then finally I'd get him back to sleep. He's a weepy baby as is, but I usually can calm him down by holding him, but Tues, he just slept and cried. I wasn't feeling well either, so that makes it fun. Z got a cold last week, and now it has spread to the rest of the family. To top things off, Z has decided to become a terrible two. Someone must have been whispering in his ear this weekend evil ideas. Not to point fingers, but he did hang out with his 2 yr old cousin. Ummhmm. Z was behaving terribly on Tues. He kept disobeying and hurting Ca. I couldn't leave them along in the same room cuz I was scared that Z would hurt Ca. I was so looking forward to naptime, but Z has discovered that he can get out of his bed and wouldn't take a nap. Oh, it was rough. I tried yelling at Z, but my voice is hoarse so "ZANE" came out "zane". It was a hard day. BUT today, was lovely. Ca's feeling better, Z's acting a little better, and they both slept from 2pm-4pm. MIL sent over a pumpkin pie. Z would take a bite and say, "mmmm. pie." Then another bite, "mmmm. pie." He was so on. All is forgiven. Thank God for a new day.

Girls Night Out

Ok, girls, find yourselves some sitters cuz it's time for a girls night out. On Saturday, Feb 9th, I'm throwing a Valentines-Making Girls Night Out Party. I'll bring all the paper, scissors, glues, cookies, coffee, what have you, and all you have to bring is YOURSELF. Not the creative type? No problem. I'll make a couple of v-day cards and have some supplies ready for you to just copy if you don't want to create one yourself. Or for you creative geniuses, you can make your own. Our hubbies will have a great gift at the end: a nice v-day card and a wife who's been refreshed. It'll be at my mom's house so that we don't have to worry about sleeping babies. I'll get the address to you if you are interested in coming. I haven't decided on a time - trying to decide - before kids go to bed or after? Everyone is invited. Don't feel shy if I don't know you very well, because I'd love to get to know you more, and this will be the perfect opportunity. Please RSVP in my comments.
