Feeling proud of myself today for all my great deals.
Garage Sale Shopping:
These clothes were $0.50 each. Jack's clothes are pretty worn, so I found him some "new" onsies. The brown stripes has matching pants.. The boys shirt looked practically new, so I grabbed it.
Apparently, since coming home from the hospital, I've gained weight instead of losing. I'm blaming all the desserts from my care calendar. Probably has some to do with being baby #4 and being 34 yrs old. To make matters worse, the area where my c-section was done is still sensitive, so my clothes selection from my closet has been very limited. Even some of my maternity clothes are not comfortable. This skirt is stretchy and soft. I'm hoping it will fit and be comfy.I found these shorts for Ben for $0.50. I didn't love them, but was hoping they'd match a couple shirts he had that are missing the bottoms.
Perfect!!
Got this pile of stuff for $0.75. The Alphabet book is for tracing/writing letters. Never been used. She gave it to me for free. Can you guess why I bought the wooden spoon?
Total at garage sales: $3.75
HEB:
Chris stopped by there to get some garlic and onion to make lunch. I told him about the deal in this week's ad where you buy Nature's Own bread and get HEB whole wheat bread free. On top of that, he found a coupon in the store for $0.75 off Nature's Own. Using both yellow coupons, he got 2 loaves of wheat bread for about $1.50 (he doesn't remember exactly). I think this deal goes through Tuesday if you're interested. They also have strawberries for $1.17/lb. YUM!!
Lunch:
I threw together lunch today and realized that everything I was cooking I had gotten a really good deal on. I figured out that total for the whole meal for 5 people cost about $3.50. (This is one of the kid's plate. You can't really count them as totalling 5 people, but we had lots of leftovers.)
Hospital:
The hospital where I delivered called today with an antimated message saying they can possibly give us a deal on our bill. Keeping my fingered crossed on that one. We'll call Monday.
Carseat:
I didn't know this until yesterday, but carseats EXPIRE!! The plastic gets old and brittle and you're suppose to destroy them.. I found the dates on the bottom of mine in the plastic. My infant carrier is already expired, and Ben's expires this year. It'd be over $100 to replace them. I called a couple of people, and I think I have a replacement for the infant carrier to borrow and some leads on the other. Hopefully, I can either borrow or get some carseats without having to buy new ones.
Blankets:
I bought some fabric for about $6 to make 3 swaddling blankets. 2 of them I cut a little small, so he'll probably outgrow them soon. I think this one is going to work well though. He loves the bouncy. Lives in the bouncy.
