Pumpkin Patch

The day before we're going out in our costumes, I was fooling around on pinterest and saw the cutest homemade owl costume.  I thought, I have that owl hat that Jenny made Jack, I could just make the costume part to go with it.

 

Cute, right? The feathers are scraps from his quilt that I cut up and hot glued to a piece of felt. Then I pinned the felt to his shirt. Kind of cool, because now, I can pin it to his shirt next year and use it again.

So the boys saw me making his costume and decided that wanted me to make them one too. We got back on pinterest and I showed them some ideas that I thought we could do last minute. Z picked a sheep. (the picture was of a little girl - surprised that he picked that - maybe he's thinking Shaun the Sheep - he's pretty cool).

For his, I just glued batting to an white t-shirt. He wore a grey shirt and black pants. the hat is a headband with a piece of felt attacked by thread. I glued batting onto the hat, too. The ears are a pair of Jack's black socks.

Ca picked a shark 

The shark is a hoodie sweatshirt and felt teeth I cut and sewed on. And of course felt eyes. I cut the fin out of felt and sewed 2 pieces together to make it stronger and then sewed it to the jacket spread out a little. I sewed it all by hand loosely so we can still use the jacket this winter.

 Ben wanted to be "ider man" but I talked him into being a monkey. The spider man costume is about 3 or 4 sizes too big and it was messing up my animal theme.

They each got to pick a pumpkin to take home. I told them we'd paint them. Still haven't done that.

We took about 100000000 shots of all of them together. This was the best one and one of them is a fake.

I really had fun making the costumes and I think they are so much cuter than the store bought. I may have started a tradition in our family.
