"Dis" Little Guy

Took Ben out tonight to take 1 year photos. This was my favorite. I'm wishing I had time to edit more tonight.
.
  • says, "Momma, Dadda, and dis (this)"
  • claps
  • laughs when you blow in his face and then blows upward
  • dances
  • climbs on his Mickey rocker and rocks
  • climbs in Z's chair to sit
  • climbs on and out of everything
  • still wants his momma
  • has 6 teeth, but HATES it when I brush them
  • Z, jumping, makes him laugh
  • taking steps, but mostly holds on to walk
  • knows what to do with a phone, sunglasses, and hats
  • loves fruit and bread
  • loves to play ball

Ben's Train

Ben's birthday present turned out to be a hit. Ben loves throwing all the blocks off the train. I've put that thing back together more than I can count. It was a pretty big hit with Ca, too. I need to teach the big boys how to put it back together themselves.

Ca's Bday

This weekend, we had a small party for Ca and Ben's bdays. In our family, when you turn 3, you get a choo-choo train cake (started with me and my sisters). The boys' cousin had this Thomas the Train at their uncles house that we borrowed for the kids to ride.We had a make your own train craft. Only a couple kids tried it. Ca's the only one that finished (probably had to do with his mom), but the rest took theirs home to complete later. I have extra cars that I think I'll make with the boys sometime this week.Chris leveled the swingset and tied it down so the kids could play on it.Oh, and the cake. Took a ridiculous amount of time. I tried making my own fondant. I'm not sure it was worth it, though. I actually had the idea of adding clowns after I made Z's train bday cake. I was pregnant with Ben at the time and decided I would do it for Ca's and add the clowns for Ben's first bday.Blowing out the candles. I felt a bit morbid cutting up this cake. It looked like a horrible mass murder had happened after we were done.

Happy Birthday, Baby!

Today, Ben turns one year old. My sweet baby is getting to be a toddler!! Shouldn't I be pregnant again? This morning we celebrated with banana muffins. Z was showing him how to blow out his candle. He already knows how to blow, but was distracted by the glowing fire on the candle. He sure liked the muffin though. Had two! I ordered him a gift from amazon, but it hasn't come in yet!! I don't know that he's quite ready for it yet anyway, but I have too many baby toys. He'll grow into it soon.

That's How You Spell Cake

Zane had his first spelling test last week. Normally, we work on reading, but I decided to do a spelling test instead, just to change things up. Considering that he hasn't even learned to write all his letters, he did pretty good.
Ca also decided to change things up by putting cake crumbs on the floor for Ben to eat. Later, we found Ben having his own banquet.

This reminded me of a "Friends" episode where Rachel and Chandler eat a cheesecake off the floor.

Honestly . . .

Jenna, this is for you. "Honest Scrap Award."  This is what she knows: First, you have to tell your readers ten things about you they may not know, but that are true. Second, you have to tag others with the award and third you have to let all the people you've given the award to know that they've gotten it (comment on their blogs or something). And finally, make sure you link back to the person who awarded you.

My 10 Honest Things:
  1. I honestly think if I had tried and studied, there are many things in which I could have been successful.  The fact that I haven't (and won't), bothers me. But obviously not enough for me to do anything about it.
  2. I don't shower daily. I used to, before Ben. But now, no. Takes too much time.
  3. Watching HGTV (haven't had it for a year) has ruined me. I used to just decorate the way I like, but now, I'm all concerned if it's HGTV worthy. I know it's not, but I really try hard.
  4. I always wait until the last minute to do things. I think I like the challenge of beating the clock.
  5. I hate reading in front of people.
  6. I'm tired all the time, but I stay up late because all day I crave that alone time and it's the only time I can get it.
  7. I dream of opening an etsy shop one day to sell custom digital photo cards and albums, but I'm scared that I'll end up accidently breaking a copyright law and get sued. One day, I'll get the gutts. Maybe after I'm out of the baby stage.
  8. I never clean those hidden places in my house. Behind the toilet, under vases. I only clean what I have to. I've been to some bday parties lately (you know who you are). Their houses were so clean and HGTV quality. I'm feeling I might ought to raise my cleaning standards.
  9. I have a huge birthmark on my inner thigh. It's faded now, but when I was a kid, people used to ask, "What happened?"
  10. My dh is working on the backsplash in our kitchen. I bribed him. I'll let you guess with what.
I now pass on the award to . . .
my sisters, Mom, Meems, Jenny Wilde, and Sarah Henry

MEMORY

I got such a kick out of watching Ca and Z play memory yesterday. Ca kicked butt! It must be because I'm the baby in my family, but I love it when the underdog wins! He was watching every flip of the card, memorizing where the matches were, while Z was just randomly flipping over the cards, hoping to get a match. You could see Ca's mind churning, waiting for his turn. Waiting to get his matches. They played about 8 games. Ca won all but maybe 1 or 2. It's so fun when you have more than one kid. You can distinguish between personality differences, maturity levels, and "just a boy thing". Fist bump to you, Ca!
