Olympic Fever!!

The boys & I have been learning all about the Olympics this week. (Yes, I'm doing school in the summer - just keeping the peace in the house). I found all these printables and we made lapbooks. It's only the 2nd time we've done one. We did a little about the Olympics and a little about London. Zane loves doing it. It's like a constant review for him, because he looks it over and over after he's finished - rereading all the pockets. This is how ours turned out.

Here's some of my resources:

Yesterday, at JCPenney's, they had a deal where you get a free Olympic t-shirt with any purchase. Mom got one for Zane.

We watched the opening ceremony, and the kids were extremely bored, but I enjoyed it. The kids did liked the Chariots of Fire with Mr. Bean.

I've also ordered a Christian book about Eric Liddel (Chariots of Fire) through the interlibrary loan service. It's the first time I've used this service. I'm so excited about this new discovery (ok, so I knew about it before, I just had never tried it).  You can do it all from your computer at home and about a week later, they call you with the books. You check them out almost like a normal checkout and all for FREE! My new curriculum has extra books that you can buy that go along with the curriculum and so far, every one that I've looked up, I can get through this service. It's going to add a lot to our homeschooling. I haven't gotten the Eric Liddel book, but I'm excited about this Christian book series. It's published by YWAM and it's all about missionaries and Christian heroes (post-Bible). AND there are several that I can get through this interlibrary loan.

Tonight I gave Jack a haircut (nothing to do with Olympics, but above is the before picture). Nothing grand. I just cut off all the baby hair wispy ends. I know. Doesn't look different, but it was bugging me.

And this was how I got him to sit through it.

A friend from my homeschool co-op, planned a Kid Olympics in the park for us today. It was a lot of fun. The kids got to "compete" in lots of events. Mom came and took pictures for us. You can read more about it on her blog.

I loved it when the Queen was with James Bond.
