We came this close to buying a house this week. It was older, bigger, and needed quite a bit of work. It wasn't so bad that we couldn't move in as is, but there was a lot to do to bring it up to feeling like home. Wednesday, we made an offer, they countered that evening, we took the evening to discuss and think about it. The next morning (yesterday), Chris agreed to the offer, but someone else had already put a cash offer on it. It was on the market for 2 days. We were too slow. I was sad when we found out that someone else had gotten it, but in reality, it's bad timing. By the time we would have closed, it would have been extreemely close to baby's due date. I would have been useless to dh and he would have had to carry the bulk of the work of preparing the house to move into (paint, flooring), getting this house ready to rent, moving all of us, etc. He likes to take his time doing things. I don't. It would have been really hard on us. Maybe the next great deal will come at a better time.
